Serious and Violent Offender Reentry
Initiative Grantee
Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections
(Amount: $2,000,000*)
The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections
will enhance its Corrections Organized for Reentry (CORE) initiative
that was implemented in January 2002. The basic mission of CORE
is the early development of a seamless and coordinated reentry
plan that follows each offender throughout incarceration and creates
a community partnership that supports the reentry process. The
program will target offenders ages 1835 who were convicted of
a serious or violent crime. They will be released from Dixon Correctional
Institute on goodtime parole supervision and will be under supervision
by the New Orleans West district parole office. For more
information, read this grantee’s workplan.
Local contact: Suzanne Sharp, 2253426630.
