Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative Grantee

Vermont Department of Corrections (Amount: $2,000,000*)

The Vermont Department of Corrections will target all incarcerated felony offenders reentering Vermont communities who are 16–35 years old and have minimum sentences of 1 year. It will successfully reintegrate these offenders into the community by combining supervision and services to allow them to become productive, responsible, law-abiding citizens. Specifically, the program will help offenders obtain long-term employment, maintain stable residences, and successfully address substance abuse and mental health needs. The grant will aid in the implementation of a community-based restorative process involving the promotion of partnerships at the community level. Vermont will also use partnerships with the community, government, and nongovernmental organizations to provide supervision and services to the offenders. For more information, read this grantee’s workplan.

Local contact: John Perry, 802–241–2307.
