Serious and Violent Offender Reentry
Initiative Grantee
Wyoming Department of Corrections (Amount: $1,833,842*)
The Wyoming Department of Corrections will unify existing services
to address offenders’ return to the community, substance abuse
and mental health treatment, and educational, employment, and housing
needs. Grant funds will be used to establish the Wyoming Serious
and Violent Offender Reentry Program for adults and to increase
staffing at the Wyoming Department of Employment to include five
part-time case management positions (one at the Wyoming State Penitentiary
and Wyoming Women’s Center and four in the targeted community-based
sites). The targeted population will include juvenile offenders
reentering Campbell, Fremont, and Sheridan Counties and adult offenders
reentering Campbell, Laramie, Natrona, and Sweetwater Counties.
Initially, the program will focus on adult offenders ages 25–35
serving sentences in the Wyoming State Penitentiary, a maximum
security facility for men in Rawlings, and the Wyoming Women’s
Center, a maximum security facility for women located in Lusk.
Juveniles ages 14–17 who are in the custody of Wyoming’s Department
of Family Services will be selected from the Wyoming Boys’ School
in Worland and the Wyoming Girls' School in Sheridan.
For more
information, read this grantee’s workplan.
