Training and Technical Assistance Providers

The following agencies and organizations provide training and technical assistance that may be of use to those developing reentry programs:

  • Addiction Technology Transfer Center
The Addiction Technology Transfer Center is coordinating a training opportunity for teams involved in the Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative (SVORI) so that they may learn from experts how to conduct cross-discipline training. This train-the-trainer project responds to BJA’s goal to provide criminal justice-substance use disorder (CJ-SUD) cross training to grantees in 69 sites around the nation receiving SVORI funding.
  • Center for Sex Offender Management
The goal of the Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM) is to enhance public safety by preventing further victimization through improving the management of adult and juvenile sex offenders who are in the community. CSOM provides support to the Office of Justice Programs and those jurisdictions awarded grants through the OJP Sex Offender Management Grant Program.
  • Community Capacity Development Office
The mission of the Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO) is to promote comprehensive strategies to reduce crime and revitalize communities. CCDO partners with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to develop joint national service projects to support reentry using VISTA volunteers. CCDO also works on reentry issues with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), which helps resident-led, community-based development organizations.
  • Juvenile Reintegration and Aftercare Center
The Juvenile Reintegration and Aftercare Center 's Intensive Aftercare Program (IAP) is a research-based approach to transitioning youth from confinement back into the community. IAP stresses that both surveillance and treatment services are critical to the successful reintegration of youth into the community.
  • National Institute of Corrections
The National Institute of Corrections (NIC), part of the U.S. Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Prisons, provides training, technical assistance, information services, and policy/program development assistance to federal, state, and local corrections agencies. Through cooperative agreements, NIC awards funds to support its program initiatives.
